Fare Change: Bus Éireann Drops €10 Charge for Bikes, Bags, and Prams on Local Routes

15 Apr, 2024

Bus Éireann has made a significant change this week by eliminating the €10 fee previously required for bringing bikes, extra bags, and prams on board buses operating in cities, towns, and local commuter routes.

This adjustment, effective immediately across all Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes, marks a departure from the previous practice of levying charges for such items, which often exceeded the cost of a standard ticket.

Although the transit charge has been abolished, Bus Éireann emphasises that the availability of space on buses will still determine the carriage of bicycles, prams, and pushchairs.

However, it's important to note that the fee will continue to apply to Expressway services.

This change by Bus Éireann is expected to facilitate multimodal commuting and travel by making it more convenient and cost-effective for passengers to integrate cycling, walking, or using public transportation into their daily journeys.
